Criminal Law Fees
The nature of the work involved in criminal law requires flexibility with time and dedication to a process that can be both lengthy, then move very quickly.

Our office charges flat fees for representation in criminal court that is dependent on the type of charges and the court proceedings that need to be attended.

Matters in general sessions court include most misdemeanors, and a flat rate is billed to negotiate the disposition of your case. If the matter cannot be resolved in general sessions court, then a separate fee will be assessed to represent you in the matter in circuit criminal court.

Criminal court fees are billed through the resolution of the case and include all filings, discovery review, negotiations, and settlement if an agreement is reached.

If a settlement cannot be resolved in criminal Court we will prepare your case for trial and represent you in front of a jury of your peers. While a jury trial takes a significant amount of time and effort, your freedom is valuable, and we will work hard to ensure you receive the trial you deserve.

Estate Matters
Drafting a will or trust, executing powers of attorney, or advanced directive is a package that requires a flat fee based on the complexity of the estate. Generally, this is a one time expense. Updating these documents is billed at an hourly rate and generally takes much less time and is therefore, less expensive than drafting new documents. Contact our office to receive an estimate of what your estate planning will cost.
For probate matters a retainer is generally required to begin working on the estate. A retainer is an estimated amount that is paid before a case begins, then the time spent on your case is accounted for and billed against that amount incrementally. Contact our office to learn more about the retainer for the estate that needs to be opened and what options are available to you.
Civil Matters
Civil disputes may be resolved simply with a demand letter to the opposing party, or may end up in a trial, depending on the complexity and willingness of the other parties.
Writing a demand letter requires a consultation, research of applicable laws, drafting, and communication with the opposing party, which may be billed at an hourly rate or as a flat fee.
If the demand does not resolve your matter and you wish to proceed, a civil lawsuit requires a retainer and hourly fee arrangement. The retainer covers the cost of filings, research, analysis, negotiations, and court proceedings. The time that our office spends on your matter is billed against the retainer. In the event that your matter proceeds past the amount of hours the retainer will cover, you will be notified. Rest assured that all of our professionals work as quickly as possible to ensure the best result with a minimal amount of time billed. We utilize our team to bill at the lowest rate available first, but always with the required supervision to make sure your matter proceeds efficiently.
