Criminal Charges in Nashville and Davidson County
Davidson County is Tennessee's 20th Judicial District. Our office is in Gallatin, and we take criminal cases in the Nashville courts. Attorney Chloe Hawes handles our criminal defense cases.
• Clerk. The Criminal Court Clerk of Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County keeps the records for Criminal Court and General Sessions criminal court. The office is at 408 2nd Avenue North, Suite 2120. A second location at 512 First Avenue North handles warrant and bond services around the clock.
• Find your court date. The clerk's free case search is at sci.ccc.nashville.gov. General Sessions also posts its court schedule online.
• Treatment and specialty courts. General Sessions runs a Recovery Court, a Mental Health Court, a Veterans Treatment Court, a Domestic Violence Court and the C.A.R.E. Diversionary Court for ages 18 to 30. Recovery Court is for people with a substance use disorder who are at high risk of reoffending, and it takes an online referral.
• Misdemeanor probation. General Sessions Court Probation supervises misdemeanor cases, which carry up to 11 months and 29 days per offense. Its office is at 100 James Robertson Parkway, Suite 10.

Probate, Wills and Conservatorship in Davidson County
A will is probated in the county where the person usually lived when they died (Tenn. Code Ann. § 32-2-101). Davidson County is different from most counties: probate goes to the Seventh Circuit Court, Probate Division, known as the Davidson County Probate Court.
• Jurisdiction. The court has exclusive jurisdiction in Davidson County over estate administration and the probate of wills. It also hears conservatorships and guardianships.
• Clerk's office. The Probate Court Clerk is on the third floor of the Historic Courthouse, 1 Public Square, Suite 302, Nashville.
• Online tools. The clerk offers e-filing at efile.nashville.gov, a Probate Estate Lookup, probate dockets, local rules and probate forms.
• Conservatorships. Metro's Office of Conservatorship Management says a conservatorship must be filed in the county where the person with a disability lives, and strongly advises hiring a lawyer.

Lawsuits and Civil Cases in Davidson County
• Who keeps civil records. The Circuit Court Clerk keeps the records for the Circuit Courts and the civil records of the eleven General Sessions Courts.
• General Sessions civil. The clerk's General Sessions Civil Division is at 408 Second Avenue North, Suite 2110. General Sessions civil cases are generally limited to $25,000, with no limit in detainer (eviction) cases (Tenn. Code Ann. § 16-15-501).
• Circuit Court. The Circuit Court Clerk's office is at 1 Public Square, Suite 302.

• Deadlines. A General Sessions judgment can be appealed to Circuit Court within 10 days (Tenn. Code Ann. § 27-5-108).
