Criminal Charges and Tickets in White House
The city says White House is "located in both Sumner and Robertson counties," at Exit 108 on I-65. That matters, because the two counties have separate courts. Our office is in Gallatin, and attorney Chloe Hawes handles our criminal defense cases.
• White House Municipal Court. The court "tries persons charged with the violation of municipal ordinances." It meets in the Billy S. Hobbs Community Center, 105D College Street, 2nd Floor Board Room. Your court date is on your citation. The clerk's office in the same building is open Monday through Thursday.
• Which county hears a state charge. Tennessee prosecutes an offense in the county where it was committed (Tenn. R. Crim. P. 18). A DUI or theft charge from the Sumner side goes to Sumner County courts. One from the Robertson side goes to Robertson County courts.
• Sumner County. Misdemeanors and first hearings in felony cases are in Sumner County General Sessions Court (clerk at 155 East Main Street, Gallatin). Felonies go to Sumner County Criminal Court in the Criminal Justice Center, 117 West Smith Street. The Sheriff's Office and jail are at the same address.
• Robertson County. General Sessions handles misdemeanors and traffic citations; its clerk is at 529 South Brown Street, Springfield. Felonies go to Circuit Court for the 19th Judicial District, with the clerk at 422 West Court Square, Suite 106. The Robertson clerk says cell phones, electronic devices and watches are not allowed in the courtrooms and courthouse. See our Robertson County page.

• Robertson County home. Probate goes to the Robertson County Chancery Court, Clerk and Master, 422 West Court Square, Room 102, Springfield. The county lists probate, conservatorships and guardianships among its cases.
Our estate work is handled by attorney Kylene Ross with our probate paralegal, who has 20 years of probate, wills and estates experience. Read do I need probate in Tennessee? and power of attorney vs. conservatorship, or see our probate, conservatorship and wills and trusts pages.
Lawsuits and Civil Cases in White House
• Read the top of the warrant. A civil warrant names the county and court where the case was filed.
• General Sessions. In both counties, General Sessions hears civil cases up to $25,000. Detainer (eviction) cases have no dollar limit (Tenn. Code Ann. § 16-15-501).
• Robertson County dates. Robertson's clerk points the public to online court records at robertson.tncrtinfo.com. The clerk notes these are not the complete official record.
• Larger cases. Circuit Court and Chancery Court in each county hear larger contract and debt cases.
• Deadlines. A General Sessions judgment can be appealed to Circuit Court within 10 days (Tenn. Code Ann. § 27-5-108).
