Criminal Charges in Robertson County

• Misdemeanors and traffic. Robertson County General Sessions Court handles misdemeanor criminal matters and traffic citations from the county and the Tennessee Highway Patrol. • Felonies. Circuit Court for the 19th Judicial District hears felony criminal cases. The Circuit Court Clerk's office is at 422 West Court Square, Suite 106, Springfield.

• Find your court date. The Circuit Court Clerk directs the public to Robertson County's online court records at robertson.tncrtinfo.com. Pick the court (Circuit or General Sessions) and the criminal department. The clerk notes these online records are not the complete official record.

• Treatment courts. The Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services lists a Robertson County Recovery Court and a Robertson County Mental Health Court. Ask us whether either could fit your case.

Probate, Wills and Conservatorship in Robertson County

A will is probated in the county where the person usually lived when they died (Tenn. Code Ann. § 32-2-101). In Robertson County, probate is handled by the Robertson County Chancery Court.

 

• Clerk and Master. The Chancery Court clerk's office is at 422 West Court Square, Room 102, Springfield.

• What Chancery Court handles. The county lists probate, conservatorships, guardianships, trusts, minor settlements, real estate matters and partition suits, among others.

• Calendar and documents. The Clerk and Master posts an online Chancery Court calendar and a Chancery document center on the county website.

Lawsuits and Civil Cases in Robertson County

• General Sessions civil. Robertson County General Sessions hears civil warrants up to its $25,000 limit, detainer warrants (landlord and tenant disputes), recovery warrants and orders of protection. Detainer cases have no dollar limit (Tenn. Code Ann. § 16-15-501). Filings go to the General Sessions Court Clerk at 529 S. Brown Street.

• Circuit Court. Circuit Court hears contract disputes, civil torts and condemnations, among other cases. Its clerk is at 422 West Court Square, Suite 106. The clerk posts the 19th Judicial District e-filing rules.

• Chancery Court. Chancery also hears contract and debt cases, specific performance and foreign judgments.

• Find your court date. Use robertson.tncrtinfo.com and choose the civil department.

• Deadlines. A General Sessions judgment can be appealed to Circuit Court within 10 days (Tenn. Code Ann. § 27-5-108).
